Denton’s new ‘civic square’ is in danger of becoming the most expensive skateboard park in the country.
As the YouTube videos above show, the square is being used regularly by young skaterboarders trying out their skills on the marble seating.
While their skills are comendable, it is not what the seating was intended for, and marks on the marble are clearly visible from the damage caused.
Floyd Paterson said, “When Labour gave up on the market they had grand visions for a new civic square. Now, those plans are being ruined because Labour do not have enough wherewithal to provide enough facilities for our young people, whilst at the same time they are doing little to disuade skateboarders from using the civic square.
“Something needs to be done, to ensure that the civic square does not become nothing more than an expensive skateboard park, so that residents of all ages can enjoy the square.”
